I ma looking for work?

experience in construction and construction supervising hands on ability
i am welling to work with group or in maintenance and service

I am sorry that you are yet another victim of the spammer above. Let me try to help.

If you are in construction, you know that regular jobs are really hard to find right now. I suppose we are not suffering as much as some other parts of the country, but even in the Washington area, construction is way down. But while commercial construction jobs are hard to find, it seems that this area has an almost unlimited demand for workers who can do residential improvement projects. Everyone I know considers it a major find when they come across a contractor who comes on time, charges a reasonable fee, and sticks with a project until it's done.

So, if you have the skills--and it sounds like you do--you should consider setting up a business for yourself to do that kind of work. Do a little advertising (nothing expensive, but put an ad in your church bulletin, make up some flyers to post in the local hardware store and supermarket, etc.). You might want to take out a contractor's license to be legal and official, but I don't need to tell you that most people in that line of work don't have licenses. Look to get jobs in two kinds of areas: 1) upscale neighborhoods in Maryland, DC or Virginia; and 2) areas that are undergoing a lot of renovation, like Columbia Heights in the District, parts of Silver Spring,. and so forth. Those neighborhoods are the kind of places where word-of-mouth recommendations can build your business like wildfire.

The commercial construction business will come back, but maybe not for another year or more. Meanwhile, however, people still have houses that need fixing. And the recession will convince many people that it makes more sense to expand and renovate than to buy something new. That makes the downturn in the economy work to your advantage.

Good luck!!

go to craigslist.com and do a job search for your area. good luck
