Silly question of the day- do illegal aliens pay income tax? |
So if they are paying taxes, what 's all the hoo-hah about them putting a burden on public services accessible to them and by doing that , they are costing the government billions of dollars each year. Is that true. Any comments please? ..... because, almost always, they're on the very, very low end of the income scale so, they wind up using considerably more government resources than does the average American. Yes. Some pay income taxes and social security taxes because their employer withholds the taxes from their paycheck just like the taxes are withheld from your check or any one else's. Employers are required by law to withhold income taxes and Social Security taxes from the checks of all employees, and the employers pay that money directly to the State and Federal governments. Illegal aliens can pay income tax without fear of the IRS reporting them to immigration officials in the Department of Homeland Security. They can do this by obtaining an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number from the IRS. Some actually do, using something called an ITIN in place of a social security number. Most work "under the table" and don't report earnings or pay tax on them. you can find out to obtain ITIN numbers from the irs website: Yes (LOL) Some do, some don't. Just like the rest of us |
