My SSI deduction in very high...how do I decrease it? |
My SSI deduction from my paycheck is almost 20% of my check, is there a way to decrease the amount of money is taken out, I mean I'll never see that money anyway by the time I reach retirement age...thanks to all. Social Security deduction is a flat 6.2% unless you make more than $97,000 a year. There should not be a SSI deduction. Check with your employer's HR dept. The percentage of SS deducted is set but it isn't 20%. Either there is an error or you are miscalculating. Probably a different tax. But if you want to pay less of that tax, then vote Republican. Your what? Employees do not pay SSI. SSI is a form of federal welfare. |
