I'm a retired senior. Easy tax question (please see details?)? |
I get a pension of 400 dollars a month. Some of this is withheld. I have a 1099-R showing tax information for this. 1040A. Yes, there are special instructions for you to file on the IRS' website. You will need to file a 1040 A and write STIMULUS REBATE across the top of it. Click this link and visit the IRS website for more information on what you need to file to get you refund and your stimulus rebate. http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,i... File Form 1040-A and stop withholding on your pension because your tax will continue to be zero. Your social security will not be taxable so just enter the amount you get on the tax form and show the taxable part as zero. 1040A would do the job. 1040 would also. You need to know the amount for your ss for the year. If you are filing for the stimulus only, you can estimate and they'll verify it, but since you're also filing for a refund on your pension withholding the numbers should be correct. |
