I just got a check for a little over 2,000 is this my tax relief check or my state refund?

So I know it probably sounds like a stupid question but I am a little confused. First because when I got my taxes done, it was supposed to go straight into my checking account. Now I got this check in the mail from the State of California that says
Fund Name- TAX RELIEF & REFUND ACC
So I dont know if this is just my state income tax refund? or both my state refund with the tax relief combined in the total. I always had my refund go through direct deposit. So I am a little confused.

The stimulus payments don't start going out until next month, so it isn't that. And it'll come from the IRS, not from the state of CA - sounds like it's your state refund.

If the check is from the State of California it cannot be your federal economic stimulus payment. Besides, the first stimulus checks won't be mailed until May 2.

Definitely not the tax relief check those won't be mailed until May. Probably your tax refund and if you didn't have one then an inheritance from a rich uncle.

State income tax refund. State and federal are separate returns - refunds won't be intermingled.

What does your state income return for 2007 say?

Yes he's right. The LAZY incompetent morons in Washington couldn't get those out until sometime in May. If you get a check from Arnold I wouldn't hesitate to cash that in a heart beat! He has all his money from his piss poor movies PLUS all that Kennedy money.
