Why are people my age still being taxed on social security when it's expected to be (please see details)... |
Why are people my age (24) still being taxed on social security when it's expected to be exhausted before the time we're even eligible to receive it? Why are we having to pay for a benefit that we will not be able to reap at the time of retirement? There will be a program there, it's just that Congress is going to have to change the rules some to keep it going. No politician is going to suggest doing away with social security. They've already made some changes to keep things viable, like extending the retirement age since people are living much longer than they were when it was established. There will have to be more changes made. Suck it up. Neither will I, and I'm in my 40's. You don't see what your other taxes pay for, why complain about this? I'm a tax payer. Does that get me a ride in an F-18? No. Does it entitle me to sit in the Secretary of State's chair at lunch? No. Just plan for your OWN retirement, like I have. I guess to support the people already on SS. The money you put in now is actually being used already. It really bothers me too that I am putting money into something I probably won't use. That is your assumption. It is questionable. |
