IRS Stimulus check? |
I made a mistake on my taxes for the year 2006 and found out i owe the IRS 1700.00. I am currently unemployed and cannot pay this at the moment. I beleive i can file an extension til i get a job? And also the stimulus check the Govt is sending out, do i get this money? I am single and beleive i will be getting 600 dollars. You need to contact the IRS to set up a payment plan. There are no extensions for payments. That amount will continue to accrue interest until you are able to pay it. You may file an extension of time to file, but not an extension of time in which to pay. If you have not informed the IRS of the mistake yet, you should still get your check. You should contact the IRS and get a payment plan in place. You don't want this hanging over your head. |
