Tax question - should I send a check to the IRS today? |
Well, I think the answer is yes, but does anyone know a quick calcuation to use our gross and what we have paid in to see if we should send a check postmarked today? Bless you for answering, I should add that I'm sure we are under with held by at least $15K so I thought I should send in a check to avoid a penalty but if I have until Jan. 15 that would be great. If you need to send an estimated tax check, the deadline to do so is January 15th. AND if you are planning on filing before January 31st, you don't have to send a fourth quarter estimate and you will not be penalized. Send all of your money in today. Yes, I need one too. Wait until you get your W-2 and just fill out your 1040. There is absolutely no need or benefit to sending in the tax payment, if any, this early. Only difference is the will earn the interest on your money instead of you if you hold off a few months. your ? is very unclear. if you are talking about your income for the year 2007 u do not need to send a thing til 4/15. as for your income if you worked for a business that deducted your taxes they are required to send you a w-2 form showing deductons by 1/30th.this is what you use to have someone thats qualified to file your tax return. Soundles has the only really correct answer. The deadline for last quarter estimated payments is 1/15. The Federal payment is not due until 1/15 and there is no benefit in mailing today. There is a benefit if you have a state payment due. If you itemize deductions on the Federal pay state today to deduct this year. I would call IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or 1-800-829-8374 and ask if you should send the check today. They would be able to answer any and all your IRS questions. |
