Do you think a man is head of the household in 2007? On income tax?

What % are mothers with children?

Head of Household status isn't gender based, it's defined in law.

If you are unmarried or considered unmarried for tax purposes AND maintain a home for your minor dependent child or other certain close blood or family relatives you may qualify for HoH filing status.

It's been my observation, though strictly anecdotal, that more women file as HoH than men.

If you are married and reside with your spouse, neither of you can file as HoH, regardless of who makes more money. In that situation your only options are Married Filing Jointly or Married Filing Separately.

You're welcome. TFTP. Report It

Head of household is a term for a single (not married) individual who supports dependents.

It doesn't matter if the HoH is male or female.

Any Male or Female can claim HoH reguardless of how much either made as long as they claim a dependant and are unmarried. If my g/f made less than me but I have other exemptions such as higher education credits it might be better for her to claim HoH and me just single. That way she gets HoH deduction and I get Life credits, ect.

Me and my g/f have 2 kids we make around 28k a year and usually our returns are around 8k total. (I cailm 2 on withholding and she claims 1)

Head of Household is generally the person who makes the most money during the year, so yes, as of right now my husband is head of household.

If he makes more money than his wife, yes.
