What are the tax benefits of having/owning a foundation?

Just wondering, many rich people have a foundation to get away with tax benefits. That's what I heard. Thanks.

They don't pay taxes on the money that they give to the foundation. Of course, they don't get to keep that money either, they have to use it for charitable purposes that fit the charter of the foundation.
