Is the "IRS Free Online E-File Program" safe?

Is the "IRS Free Online E-File Program" safe?

The free file is fine if you go through the IRS website to get to them. The free part is the tax preparation--then you print and mail or pay $15-20 for efiling.

you can always count on websites that end in .gov instead of .com

i have used e-file over the internet for the last 5 years with great results. try turbo taxes website, its easy.

Is anything really safe now-a-days.

The free file program is sponsored by the IRS, but you are actually using the individual companies website and software to complete the return.

I think that the companies put a lot of resources into protecting your information. They do not need to have it splashed all over the news that their system was compromised and that anyone that used their software is now at risk for identity theft.
