New York Cit Income Tax?

My pay check has under the deductions section along with all the other taxes a "New York Cit Income Tax" which if I'm guessing right is a New York City tax but I don't live in NYC I live in Binghamton which is half way across the state ; should I have that tax on my pay check?? and if so why should I , if not what do i do about it

did you work at all in nyc for any part of the year? if yes, then there ya go.

but the good thing for all you nonresidents is that you don't have to pay any nyc tax. if you did live in nyc for even one day while working in nyc, then you have to pay that portion of tax you are liable for.
