Why can't pets or pet care be deducted? |
I know many people have pondered this, but why can't American claim their beloved pets? I was told that in a dogs life time, an owner will probably spend about $10,000-$15,000+ on the care and feeding for their pet? Is this true? and if so, why won't the government let owners do this? ***is this things that make you go hmmmm?*** Because pets are property. You can't claim your car maintenance costs either. Pity that. You can't take deductions for pets because congress, who decides what you can deduct, has not included it. If you think the law should be changed, you have the right to tell your representative and senators what you think. Because the law doesn't allow you to deduct pet-related items. It's that simple. Because the law does not allow it, pure and simple. |
