State tax lien ...?

I have a state tax lien in NC. I've heard that the statue of limitations for the state to collect this lien is ten years, but the state has the right to re-file the claim after ten years. Well after ten passes, how do you know if the lien has been re-filed or not?

You go to the county recorders office to see if an abstract of judgment is still in place. You should be able to access this information online at no charge from their office.

Contact the Tax Dept. in that city in N.C., otherwise, you won't know. This lien will haunt you until you get it taken care of. They may be willing to work out a monthly payment with you, in order to recoup their money.
