What is the minimum wage for 17 year olds in England ?

I am currently applying for a job but i dont know what the minimum wage i should get is. I am still in full time education if that makes any difference to the wage. I also would like to know if I have to pay tax on my earnings because i have heard recently on the news about this new tax thing! can anyone help cos im realli confused !

What are the current rates of the national minimum wage?
There are three levels of minimum wage, and the rates from 1st October 2007 are:

拢5.52 per hour for workers aged 22 years and older

A development rate of 拢4.60 per hour for workers aged 18-21 inclusive

拢3.40 per hour for all workers under the age of 18, who are no longer of compulsory school age.

So your answer is 拢3.40 per hour.

And you have to pay Tax no matter your age, but you will only pay tax over the yearly allowance of 拢5,435.00.
