Fuel Prices .. 拢1.50 + per Litre by September 2008....?

On GMTV Today, they said that it is being predicted that "Petrol + Diesel" will be 拢1.50 per Litre by September.

They also stated the TAX on Fuel is 65% !
TAX has always been quoted at being 80-85%. So are they 'Dumbing' it down to make out that the TAX is lower than it really is ? As we all know the British Public will believe anything the Govornment says !

Also did YOU know that there is less 'OIL' in Petrol + Diesel NOW , than there was 10 years ago ?

It has been stated that UPTO 35% of a Litre of Petrol + Diesel is actually man made !

DO NOT be fooled ... Every time Fuel goes up the Govornment make MILLIONS if not BILLIONS in Revenue (TAX)

The Govornment is there to represent the British Public.... NOT Dictate to us.

If REVENUE to the Govornment was capped at 'say' 50p per Litre inc VAT.. I think we would then see the real price of Fuel. And I think that if this was implemented then a Litre of Fuel would cost no more than 75-80p per Litre.

Thanks for your input... But you are way out..... Sorry mate it WAS 50p TAX when we were paying around 70p a Litre at the pumps.... Now that fuel is hitting 拢1.20 per Liter we are paying about 96p per Litre in TAX.

we only have ourselfs to blame ...by not standing up and saying to this government NO!!! WE WILL NOT PAY THAT MUCH FOR FUEL...im sorry but the great british public are just to scared to stand up and demand a better deal....we are letting these morons in westminster take us for a ride ...over 10 years of stelth dictatorship and tax hikes ..and we were to blind to see it ..UNTILL NOW.....take the scrapping of the 10p tax rate..its causeing a backlash in parliment...gordon brown is facing a revolt in the commons by his own party ....the tories are just rubbing there hands waiting for the public to demand an election so they can get in and maybe sort the mess out that labour have made....its not just petrol thats the issue here ..its every thing ...food prices have gone up ...fuel prices have gone up ..prescriptions in england have gone up to over 拢7 for each item..but funny how they went down in scotland to 拢5..and are free in wales.....i pay more in income tax now because of gordons great idea to scrap the 10p tax rate so now im worse off because i earn less than 拢18.000 a year ..oh but gordon says familys are better off so that makes it all better then ....well im sorry im not going to pay for someone elses kids just because i dont have any..SOD THAT!! and on top of that i drive a diesel car ...and it cost me 拢1.20 a litre this morning to fill it ...so britain what are we going to do?? sit on our backsides and just wait for the next election???or demand something now ?? start making a fuss....remember the poll tax riots??? how about the whole labour tax riots may be thats what its gonna take to make them LISTEN!!

Tax on petrol is fixed per litre. They don't charge a fixed percentage but a fixed pence per litre levy.

If petrol is 拢1 litre, and tax is 85p, it's 85%. But due to market forces, if petrol rises to 拢2 a litre, and tax is 85p still, then clearly the percentage that is tax falls to 42.5%

Thing is, they need to pay for the war in Iraq. -They dont tell us that though do they!?

Thats why fuel is a lot cheaper in European Countries or countries that have no involvement in the war.

on a slightly different note, remember about 10 years ago when people were complaining that petrol was expensive? I'd love to go back to how it was then!.

Contrary to myth and rumour, tax as a percentage of the price of petrol in the top 5 countries as of January 2008 was:

Sweden 64
Belgium 63
German 63
UK 63
Finland 62

I believe the current fuel duty is at 50.35p/litre.

That help?
