What should be the tenure in any organisation to get maternity leave?

My wife got a job in the month of October, after 05 months she delivered a baby girl. intially the company paid salary on the leave taken for maternity now they ask for refunding. Is this correct ?

Yes, the department of work and pensions website http://www.dwp.gov.uk/lifeevent/benefits... says you should have been working for the same employer for 6 months by week 25 of pregnancy to qualify for Statutory Maternity Pay. Occupational Maternity Pay is likely to be less generous.
