One cannot claim a child for 6 months....It would be hard to prove to the IRS what all you did or spent on the child for 6 mos. One Parent claims child on tax as a dependent, when return comes in then the real parents of child splits any monies......Be careful what you claim..because if you screw up. then IRS will catch it maybe next year and want the money back or deduct any you may have coming........good luck.
