If I worked for a company more than 4 years ago and never got a P60, is it too late to get one now? |
I need to claim back excess tax covering the past 5 years so I need my P60s from each job I worked at and was only given one by one company I worked for. Will the companies I worked for still have my details on their system for me to get a P60 from them after 4 or 5 years or would I have to do or go through another process? Is there anything I can do if they can't give me a P60 or am I screwed? Yes you can ask for copy of your P60. Companies have to keep records minimum for 3 years, but some with computerized system may have 7 years history data. If some of your former employers can not provide with copy of P60 your last payslip for each tax year can be used as it contain Total Gross Paid, NI contribution and Income Tax for all year. You suppose to receive P60 from your employer by 30 May each year if you were employed on 5th April, otherwise you've got P45. if you have no luck from your previous employers, you could go to your local tax office who should have all the details of employment on their files. |
