Haven't worked a full year, what do i need to do regarding claiming tax back? |
ie have worked only part of a year and gonna do some travelling IF YOU HAVE SIGNED ON SEE THE SOCIAL THEY WILL HELP YOU you cannot claim on your nerve (ie cheeck) you can only claim tax back if youve paid some. im not sure how long you have to claim it but you should start by contacting your local Inland Revenue office -look in the phone book- they will tell you exactly what to do The tax year is from April, so after April contact the tax office to claim back tax overpaid for year 07/08 look in yellow pages for tax office and ask for form p50 - you can claim tax back on this form Other answers are shamefully inaccurate. You need to go to www.hmrc.gov.uk and download a form P85. Complete this and send it to your tax office with the P45 you should have received on leaving your job. Repayment will come to you via a cheque or direct to your bank account. To minimise the amount of times you have to correspond to the tax office I would advise the following, based on a claim for the 2007-2008 tax year (06 April 2007 to 05 April 2008): |
