Im moving back in with my dad who doesnt pay full council tax, will he have to pay the increase back to april?

I work full time so the council tax will go up, but it is now december, do we have to pay back payments back to 1st april?

No, they'll rearrrange the bill so that the increase only applies from the date you tell them you moved in. Though depending which council you're under, I'd make sure it's right; some of them can be very unscrupulous with it.

No, The change will be effective from the month you move in.

No, it's only payable from the day you move in.

No there will be a recalculation from the date on which you moved in with him.

The change will happen from the date you move in....not before

Your dad must inform them of the change of circumstances

Your dad will probably lose his 25% single occupant discount and if he is in receipt of council tax benefit this will be amended to show you as a non dependent with an income

.

Council tax is a daily charge which accounts from changes on the day they happen - the day you move back in to the property will be the day on which the 25% discount ends.

Make sure that your council are aware that you are an occupant and not a liable party to the charge - Ive deal with quite a few case's lately where an occupier has been made joint and severable with the actual liable person by mistake and has been billed in error.
