Do I take it that your 2006 tax return has not been submitted?

If this is so, it seems likely that the money being demanded is for a determination made by the Revenue. This is just an estimate made as they do not have your return. The figures will be corrected when you retrun is submitted.

Do you have your books and papers or does the accountant still have them?

Do talk to the Revenue as soon as possible. Offer to make some payments you can afford and ask for time to bring your affairs up to date. It is likely you will have to pay someone else to prepare your return unless you feel up to doing it yourself.

What is happening to the accountant's practice. If someone else is running it see if you can claim against his professional indemnity policy. They should at least cover any additional costs you incur to sort this out.

RING them now!!! and set up a repayment plan.

is it the first time they have visited if it is dont let them into your house under no circumstance if not still dont let em get down to your local citizens advice they can help you I REPEAT DONT LET THEM IN THEY NEED COURT WARRANTS ECT BEFORE THEY CAN ACT!!!!

Call the cops about your accountant, tell the IR about him and that you've reported him...if he's the one doing your tax return then its his fault if it is wrong and you owe so much now. They'll help you set up a repayment plan and might even be lenient considering you seem to have a dodgy accountant.

Call them and ask for a meeting to explain your position and offer to co-operate.

You need to contact Inland Revenue.ASAP

These baliffs are one of the few who ARE entitled to break into the home

Inland Reveune would rather you spoke with them and arranged a repayment method opposed to exspensive court/baliff costs

The accountant should certainly take some blame, if not all. Contact your local trading standards and report him.

Also if he is fully qualified then you should contact whichever board governs him (Institute of Chartered Accountants, or Certified Accountants)
