Hi, I'm really stuck on a question about how to work out a budget. Can anyone help?

Hi there,
I am in a desperate situation where I have been given the following question to answer and am at a loss at how to even begin to answer it as I have never had to work out budgets before. I would be really grateful if someone could help me out..

'You have prepared a budget for the Medical Council's expenses for the year ending 31 Dec 08 as follows:

Venue costs 拢34,000
Employee costs 拢100,000
Doctors' expenses 拢20,000

You submit this budget to the Council, and the budget is agreed, with the exception of doctors' expenses, which are to be increased by 12.5%.

This budget is to be charged to the following PCT' in proportion to the number of doctors in each PCT area as follows:

Richmond - 78 doctors
Brixton - 102 doctors.

Produce a budget for submission to the Brixton PCT.'


If anyone could help me I'd be so grateful. I have to show how I worked the budget out and I'm really not sure how to do it.

The budget will be - venue 34,000 + employees 100,000 + doctors 20,000 + 12.5% = 156,500.
Total doctors is 78 + 102 = 180
Proportion for Brixton PCT is 156,500 divided by 180 x 102 = 88,684
