Have you received your Personal Apology from HM Revenue and Customs re your details being lost?

I have just got my letter.

Must admit I did think it might have been a tax rebate, ah well.

saw the letter from HM revenue and customs (last week) and thought oh no a demand for more tax....then saw it was the personal apology. nice thought but what about the cost to taxpayers to send out millions of letters?

no they lost mine

yes i have! i would prefer flowers to say sorry!!

Yes, I got mine 10 days ago.

Yeah, got it last week.

Yes.
I wonder, if it turns out that our identities have been stolen as a result of their ineptitude, will we be able to sue?

Yes I got mine last week what a crock of s... telling you its not your fault we no its not our fault, what are they going to do about it, will they replace every penny in the bank if someone gets into our accounts I dont think so, It would be a different story if we had lost their account details, the police would be on our door steps quick sharp.

Yes last saturday and I could never understand the hype really, you give out your bank details every time you write a cheque, so all anyone can do is put money into your account (yes please!). I can't believe anyone would be so daft as to use their kids names as a password. Would they?

i've not had anything yet - maybe they've lost that too!

I know we'll all be extra vigilant at the moment and be checking our bank statements carefully but there's the possibility that the thieves are just sitting on the information for a while whilst it's in forefront of the media and everyone's minds.

I know someone who had his identity stolen over 10 years ago and he struggles now even with the simplest things like current bank accounts, never mind implications trying to get a mortgage etc!

I do have to agree with the comment about the cheques tho which someone made - i mean they have our bank acc't number, sort code, branch address and our signature, plus a sample of our handwriting and we usually put our address on the back too!
I don't know why we didn't get rid of them years ago.

No but I got your details through the post last week lol

Hi D, I haven`t received any letter so far.

No, because I was the unfortunate fool who lost 'em!
