Do nannies pay income taxes and get pay slips?

Do nannies pay income taxes and get pay slips?

They should, but do they? Depends on who is paying them. I am sure many "casual" jobs are paid in cash with no tax records. Usually a good deal for both, as long as the IRS doesn't mind (and what they don't know won't hurt them).

Disclaimer: This comment in no way is encouraging anyone to attempt to defraud the U.S. government by failing to declare taxable income. It was submitted in jest and should be considered as such. And I am totally honest when I file my income taxes. Promise, cross my heart, spit on my palm and clap my hands.

You have asked the question in UK taxes and yet chosen an answer which relates to the US! Report It

A nanny should be self employed and pay theri own taxes, or it would be sorted out by the agency (if they have one)

They should. If the employer pays them cash, they are breaking the law.

The employer should also be withholding and paying SS.

Several of our top gvpt people have been turned down for higher posts because this has happen to them.

Yes they do.
Any employer who fails to supply payslips or deduct PAYE/NIC is liable to penalties from HMRC.

Marky is incorrect, a nanny working in an employers home is not self employed. One step down is correct as usual - they pay tax and NIC and have to have a payslip showing these deductions.
