Reclaiming bank charges in the UK?

Does anyone know what stage the various court cases are? Is it still possible to reclaim bank charges?

Not at this moment in time is the quick answer!

You have to wait until the OFT have concluded their "test case" which is basically a chance for the banks / building socities to test the principals of this - and the OFT can decide on what is fair or not.

The case is expected to start on the 14 Jan 08, subject to confirmation from the High Court, and will last eight to ten days. However, it could start later and go on much longer.

In the meantime the FSA have given all banks / building socities a waiver, so that they don't have to hear any more cases until the OFT investigation is resolved.

It may be that the OFT decide that charges are legitimate, in which case you can never ask for them back. The best advice I can give now is to keep all the related paperwork, and watch the press for details on the OFT enquiry.

Hi,it has gone quiet.Put in to reclaim your charges.Good Luck

hi, if you are talking about being ver charged by bank, all i did was email them the dates and how much they took off me, and they gave me my money back within 3 days.

www.moneysavingexpert.com and enter 'bank charges' in the search box top right. All your questions answered.

I thought they'd closed that door.

Should know more @ 14th January, 2008.

The banks are being allowed to delay repayment by the Government - sorry independent body set up to protect us from them i.e. the Financial Services Authority (FSA).

Until the court case is resolved anyone can make a claim but no-one will be paid.

So make the claim before they say you are too late
