Jobseekers Allowance, help!!?

Do you think the introduction of Jobseekers Allowance (which replaced unemployment benefit) is a good idea?

Same difference really, still a load of lazy sods who have no intention of getting a job. It should be there for people who are between jobs and if you can't find a job then you should do voluntary work to earn your benefit.

yep

There should be no such thing as either!

I know many people who are on 'Job Seekers' Allowance with no intention of getting a job.

They are spening our money on booze and don't give a toss.

I don't see much difference with it to be honest!

All they did was change the name.

Just a title. OK and probably a better term.

no its far to easy to blag that you are looking for a job!

Yes although i admit there are some people who do use it for weed, and alcohol and have no intention of getting a job, i was on jobseeker allowance for a year when i was 16, no one would employ me full time, i struggled through 100's of interviews and it does help you when you def cannot get a job. i finally did get one when i was 17 and i have worked up to the age of 23 (i do not work now as i have a daughter to look after, but i am in uni aswell)

Just another way of the sponging gits milking the rest of us.
"Jobseekers" - That's right up there with "your cheque's in the post"

They only changed the name so that unemployment figures didn't look so bad

I hate people who whinge about people on benefits
So what!
Alot of people genuinely can't get a job (there isn't one for every single person in this country...we're not communists)
Do they really think that they would be paying less tax if there were less unemployed? I don't think so

By the way I work

jsa is just another term for ppl who cant be bother to get their backsides out of bed and do something with their lives its also a good way of pleading poverty to pll who dont really give a monkeys bum. my mum is on jsa with a 16 yr old child who goes to college, but now hes left the only thing she can do is complain shes livng on 拢50 odd a week. erm some advise for all them pll......................GET A JOB, STOP SMOKING, STOP DRINKING AND STOP PLEADING POVERTY.........................IT DRIVES ME BLOODY INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have not even started your working life and you are
worried about benefits ? you have to get a job, work for
what money you want. What dole or other money you
get from government hand outs is a pittance, there are
plenty of jobs out there for you and others so go out
and earn your own living it`s more satisfying.
My granddaughter applied for three jobs and was offered
all of them,so it can be done.

for the government it is a great idea, for the unemployed its a nightmare, you would need a university degree to fill in the forms, you are forced to give information that bears no relation to your circumstances, if you cannot or do not give the information you are told your claim will be delayed or you will lose your benefit, this is blackmail, I question the legality of this

I am looking for work and JSA is a lifeline for me, I can assure you, that after paying bills and buying food, I'm not in the pub boozing my money away.
If life's so easy on JSA, why aren't more people doing it?

In America, we have un-employment benefits. To qualify, you must be employed at the same job for at least 6 months. If you "quit" the job, you get no benefits. You only qualify if you were "fired" or "laid-off". Then, you would collect these benefits for a certain amount of time (not forever), so that you can find a new job. The un-employment office will even help you to find a new job according to your qualifications. I find these benefits most helpful to those who need to feed their children in between jobs. (I Love You Bev.!)
