No you dont because that is based on NI contributions that you have already paid.

i was told that by loads of people and did the same!! but my company never asked for the money back!! but i think they can!

SMP is yours to keep.
You do not have to decide to return to work or not until after baby is born ( can't remember how many weeks after ).
But you definately don't have to repay SMP.
No doubt about that !!
