I know a second job gets taxed 22 per cent , does my Primary job (FULLTIME) get taxed anymore? |
i am currently earning 35000 and tax code is 522L, my earnings after tax is 2213 , I wanted to take an evening job which will see me earn at least 500 a month after tax which is fine with me. I want to know if they will only tax the second wages or will the initial wages be taxes as well? Ok primary job is 22% second job is 25% Actually you are wrong, they are taxed the same which could be higher if you excede the tax treshold, a second job would appear to be taxed more anyway because your personal allowance would be taken up in your main job. It's only the TOTAL earnings of both jobs which make the difference. You are taxed on your whole earnings, not seperately. From what I remember...... NO!.. Take a look at the Inland Revenue web site and you can find out exactly what your basic tax liabilities are (excluding tax on company cars etc etc). You pay tax on what you earn - you could have 20 jobs and it would make no difference. Are you sure you are paying the right tax ? Have you claimed all your tax allowances and credits ? Be sure to pay the right amount of tax ! Your first job should always be taxed less because you have a tax free allowance each year (as do all taxpayers). |
