My employer made mistake by putting a different letter in my National Number, will i still get paid?

By the way in my payslip it says the money has been credited to my account, but does NI have any bearing to the tax which im paying? like the amount of tax i paid is that going to be more because my NI is wrong? or it doesnt make a difference when it comes to that?

you will get paid, the only way you wont get paid is if he wrote the wrong account details down.

the NI number is your tax contrubution.. they are taking money out of your pay and if its the wrong number then the money taken out would not be credited to you.

if the NI number is wrong doesnt mean you will pay more tax either, everyone has a different scale which they are put on. which in most cases people are put on the wrong one and will get extra money drawn from their wages then it should be.
if you boss put the wrong NI number in the system then it could be possible that he could have also put you on the wrong scale for money withdrawal. so check before its too late to claim any of the money back. thats if it is wrong.

Yes but they may put you in the high tax bracket . You will be able to claim it back but it dose take time .

Well i have just answered your question about your tax code, and now i think i know why you have the wrong tax code. If your employer is careless enough to write the wrong ni number down then you should get them to help you sort the mess out that they have caused. You are probably paying someone elses tax. You need to get onto the inland revenue about this aswell as your employer. Tell them you have the wrong tax code, and also they have the wrong ni number for you. Get this sorted asap. It is a big deal. Good luck.

NI has no relationship to Income Tax per se, you will pay no more and no less than otherwise. The problem is that you will not be credited with your NI Contributions if this error is continued until the year end and transferred onto your P11. Make sure your employer corrects the error as soon as possible. Various benefits depend on a full NI Contribution record.

It depends on which letter - the one of the two at the start of the end one .

If its the one of the two at the start then it effectively changes the NI number to a different number and it would be best to inforn HMRC if the NI has been paid.

If its the letter at the end , the 'stagger' then its a throwback to the old manual system of recording NI numbers and wont alter your NI number - it was used to record which quarterly payment dates that your NI card had be sent in for updating..
