I just lost my job?

i live in uk

i just lost my job after 7 years now i got to claim job seekers allowance, how much money do i have to have in my bank or savings before i cant claim job seekers??

拢8000+ Sorry about yhour job thats sad. You might find another one before your claim goes through anyway.

can't remember, but easy: open another account, with a few quid in, show them that one's statement

Think when it hits about 拢2000 you can still claim but get a reduction.I'd get a family member to open an account under their name to hide it!

Good luck with getting a new job.
Hopefully you can claim straight away!
Keep your chin up mate.

sorry about your job.I am self employed, have not worked at all for 2 months + ,but would never draw benefits of any kind.spending from my savings at the momment and keep looking.I dont say you wrong for looking for benefits, just my personal opinion.

I am sorry about your job. when i was claiming income support (and if i remember the rules were the same) it was 拢3k but they do ask for bank statements dating back some weeks/months. So a rather crious transfer might show up. However, I was allowed to keep more than the 拢3k because I had good reason for it not to be used up on my daily living. They allowed me to keep it for 6 months.

good luck with the job hunting

Best wishes for a new job. You will find the Social Services system penalises the thrifty
