HELP i think im being screwed by my boss?

ive been working in a factory for 4 years, im not on a contract, ive been off work legitimatly all in a bout 4 weeks this year, due 2 becoming a daddy 4 the first time and other things. ive took 4 days off just cause i didnt want to go in. its a stressfull job, making kilts and jackets.thing is my boss aid he can sack me without any warning,i have not had any verbal, written warnings, earlier on in the year i cut of the tip of my finger with an industrial knife, i never took a days off for that,i didnt sue because he said i didnt have a claim, a guy who started recently gets the same pay as me but i have more experience. i asked for a pay rises and my boss told me to get stuffed(in a word) now hes constantly on my back, making threats like youll not be in a job after christmas and the . what do i do. keep at the job or find somewhere else.

As far as I know your employer MUST give you a written contract of employment setting out the terms and conditions of your employment within 3 (?) months of you starting.
This includes the terms for sacking and the procedure for verbal and written warnings etc.....so that you know your rights.
Regarding having cut the tip of your finger...........I think you have 3 years to make a claim.
Go speak to a solicitor about this.........shouldn't cost you anything for a simple initial consultation.
Don't be afraid to stand up for your rights.
Good luck..........and look out for a new job with a decent employer...........and when you get one..........you can tell your current boss what you really think of him !!!!

find another job. your boss sounds like a moron. if you cut part of your finger off at work, you could have made a claim.....

Yikes.. I will tell you what I have told my kids. Never leave a job no matter how horrible until you have another one lined up. I am not familiar with the UK's labor laws, but know that just because your boss threatens you with something, doesn't always make it so. Check with your HR dept. or online to see if you can find out what your legal rights are so you will know for the future. Always make sure your resume is up to date and good luck! Hang in there and do look for another job to replace this crummy sounding one! Best to you and your family!
