I do avon do I need to pay tax ?

Hi I am an avon rep but I was told I dont earn enough to pay tax, is this right, I only get around 60 pound a month and sometimes less. Also as I am only getting this amount a month, is there anything like benefits to top the it up a bit or will I not qualify because I dont work enough hours.

Any advice you can give me will be great thanks

If you are working as self employed you need to register regardless of how much you earn. The tax office will let you know if you need to pay tax, which I doubt on the amount you have stated. Also, check with you local social security office, you won't qualify for tax credits unless you do 16 hours a week, but there may be some top up benefits if the Avon money is your only income.

trust me..you wont earn enough to pay tax

Just phone your local tax office and ask them to send you the forms to register as self-employed. Tell them up front how much you earn, and that should be practically the last you hear from them.

As already stated you should register as self-employed. You won't have to pay tax for approximately the first 拢100 net profit, but you will have to give accounts.

Whether and what benefits you would be entitled to I have no idea, probably not unemployment benefit.

Hi
You can believe this love, if the government finds out you will, they'd even tax carol singing if they could, that is unless you happen to be John Prescot.

no way

Without knowing your personal circumstances it is impossible to advise you re benefits. For 拢60 a month, is it worth it?

Can't you increase your area? My ex used to make 拢150 a week doing avon. She paid schoolkids to deliver the brochures then she collected them. She covered any area within 5 miles where there wasn't a rep. Your manager will be able to tell you if there are possibilities for expansion.

But yes you should declare it for tax. There won't be any to pay at that rate but you might need to pay a self employed stamp.

The only reason you would need to register as self employed is to enable you to pay NIC's and protect your pension rights. However, you would get the small earnings exemption on this level of income.
You don't need to self assess while you are not liable to tax - the onus is on you to notify HMRC once you become liable to tax.
