China to UK voltage?

I am looking to import hair straighteners from china, hopefully GHD ones. Will I need a voltage converter for them as the voltage utput on them is 220V, whereas in the UK voltage output is generally 230V?

Your voltage of 220v is a guide.

Mains voltage can fluctuate anything upto 40 volts so it can be 220 volts or 260 volts. Approx 10% of rated voltage.

If the items are manufactured to proper electrical safety standards and have the BS Safety kite mark, then you shouldn't have any issues with the devices.

If your importing these goods from another country, you should check that the appliances meet the minimum safety requirements for importation.

No.

Basically 230V is just an approximation. It's 230V to within 6%. This means that it could be anything from 218 to 242v.

Your hairstraighteners should be able to cope with this small difference.
