Reapply for a job after rejected?

About 6-9 months ago I interviewed with a company I really liked but ultimately didn't get the job. I checked their website recently and the job was still posted.

I went through quite a few hoops with this company, as they are small and ultra selective. The hurdles were resume -> programming test -> phone interview -> lunchtime interview -> full day interview. During the full day interview I felt I bombed a portion of the interview. Was my first interview in years and I wasn't prepared. Was expecting softball questions, got highly technical questions. Ones that I knew the answers to but being on the spot, couldn't seem to regurgitate the answers.

So I continued my degree full-time and am about to finish graduate school. The field I want to get into is very hard to find an entry level position. My job prospects are fairly bleak at the moment in the area I'm located at, hence why I'm entertaining the idea of contacting this employer again.

it won't hurt to re-establish contact. typically firms will keep a resume and interview summaries on file so it may be a long shot but if its a company you really want to work for reach out!

I say go for it! That shows determination and character and this time you'll be prepared for those technical questions. You sound like an intelligent man so....go show 'em what you've got!

Definitely do it. The worst they are going to say is NO. You are more developed since your last interview and reapplying shows persistence and character.

I would contact them again, let them know what you've accomplished since you last spoke to them and ask if you could come in for a quick 30 minute discussion about the position. That should give you the answer you need.
