Will I get money from the stimulus act even if I am claimed as a dependent?

My parents claim me as a dependent but I made over 5k last year, so will I get a check or will my parents?

If your parents claim you as a dependent, you will be ineligible for the rebate, but you may still benefit under the plan.

While the rebate depends on your 2007 status and income, it is actually a rebate toward your 2008 taxes. According to the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008, taxes would be cut in 2008 from 10 percent to zero percent on the first $6,000 dollars of taxable income for individual taxpayers.

So if you have taxable income in 2008, you will see a tax cut when you file in 2009.

Sorry, but you can be claimed as a dependent you are not eligible for a stimulus plan rebate regardless of your tax liability or income.

If your parents qualify for the basic rebate they will receive an additional $300 if you are listed as a dependent on their tax return AND you are UNDER age 17 as of Dec 31, 2007.

Dependents do not receive stimulus checks.

Your parents will only get an amount for you if you are 17 or under. If you are 18 or over, and a dependent, no one gets a stimulus check for you.

No, dependents aren't eligible. If you are over 16, your parents won't get extra stimulus money for you.
