How did taxes lead to the American Revolution? Taxation without representation. The colonies were being taxed and didn't have any say in where the taxes were being spent. The taxed money was just be shipped back to England. The Boston Tea Party was due to a tax on Tea. The Brits were taxing everything & we got tired of it. taxes without representation Britain kept taxing us like the Tea Act and we got fed up with it so we declared war! Taxation without representation Imagine the state started taking most or everything of what you earned of which perhaps you had to work most of the day and a good part of the year to satisfy.
