If you are importing goods from overseas and ur not paying import fees do you only pay tax on the unit price?


I want to buy from overseas.The company i'm trading from pay for my import fees, so for tax purposes,do i just add VAT on the unit cost or do I have to get a fee in inland revenue.

All this importing stuff is getting to my head so if there is anyone that can break it down to me....please make ur email address visible

You didn't say which overseas country. If EU, you don't need to pay any tax as any tax paid in another EU country already counts.

OK. From China, more details are required. So it's best you try this site where you need to answer a few questions, such as value of import, VAT registrations, type of import, etc. and you will get advice on whether you need pay tax, such as VAT.
