I have not filed taxes for a decade, what do I do now?

Look in your local yellow pages under Accountants or Tax Preparers and bring them your information or go on-line to www.irs.gov and download the forms you need for those 10 years. Just to let you know, if you have refunds coming from any of those 10 years of unfiled returns you can only get refunds for the last 3 years (2006, 2005, 2004). Refunds for any years prior to that time are lost. If you owe for any of those 10 years though, there is no statute of limitations. I'm surprised though that you have no heard from the IRS for any of those 10 years that you have not filed returns for.
If I were you, I would not tell anyone and continue to not file.
If you have 3 kids, you are more than likely entitled to refunds. But the I.R.S has this 3 year statute of limitations, so anything past the previous 3 years you lost out on any refunds you may have been entitled too. (I'm assuming you have 3 kids from your screen name).
As a matter of policy, IRS generally only asks you to file returns for the past six years. If you have refunds, any for 2003 or earlier are lost. If you don't have your W-2 and 1099s you can call the IRS toll free number and they will mail or fax them to you. If you need someone to do the returns, you can go to a local practitioner or ou can email me from my profile. I am an Enrolled Agent licensed by the US Treasury Department.
Call me. I will take care of your problems. I know magic.
