How does this comment reflect on modern lifestyle today? Hi - I agree with it to some degree. Big business can afford the expertise, tax deductible :-)), for tax avoidance. The 'little people' are too busy just surviving and have little/no scope, or resources, to do the same. Big business obviously pay vast amounts of taxes, but considerably less than they would if they didn't have their 'armies' of accountants. I've always reckoned that travelling expenses for ALL workers should be tax-deductible. Someone that WANTS to work shouldn't be effectively discouraged/penalised because it costs so much just to GET to work. Source(s): A cynic of many years. Hard to believe she was a model..! The comment is something she denies saying. With all the tax cuts that the Republican party has passed that favor the rich it is more true today then when Leona first spoke that. I think this comment serves as a reminder that the "big people" feel that they are above the law. Millionaires like Michael Vick, Lindsey Lohan, and Paris Hilton, are slowly learnng that us little people grow tired of their financially induced disregard and arrogance. I often wonder how many people could be helped, or how many American business' could be started with just a fraction of the money that these celebrities use to break the law, or "get themselves out of trouble". |
