My wife is moving to Germany to work for 6months. What sort of Tax is she expected to pay? Assuming that both of you are US citizens the US federal income tax would be the same as if she earned the money here. She may have some tax in Germany depending on how she is paid and would be able to take a credit for those if they are required. My oldest son left for Munich Germany with an IT Work VISA over 5 years ago. Prior to each April 15th I have him download tax forms from IRS website and the State Tax website, print and sign 2 originals in Blue Ink and send me his annual earnings statement. Then I prepare his tax returns and sign as the preparer and mail them in. Most likely the Foreign Earned Income will be tax free bec one must exceed like $82,500 but still by statutory law, you must report it and answer questions like specific work and lodging addresses. If the Foreign Government taxes your spouse's wages, then there is an offset. Hope the Above Info Helps! |
