If I have dual citizenship, US and from Spain, and I live in the US, do I have to pay spanish taxes? The US has an income tax treaty with Spain. In your case, the treaty would provide that the US would have the primary right to tax your income as a resident since your permanent home is in the US. You would, however, be taxed in Spain on any income earned or generated there. You may also need to file if Spain treats you as a resident for tax purposes, although Spain would need to give you a tax credit for any US tax paid on the same income. |
