What is right for you really depends on your skills and interests. I'm sure you can make good money performing brain surgery in your bathroom but if you lack the equipment, experience and degree, you won't get alot of clients and might be out of business (and into prison) before you begin.

Look at the stories behind other home businesses. Ebay began as a bulletin board selling and buying Pez dispensers. Coca Cola was first made at home as was the beginning of Dell Computers. You can take a simple idea to new heights either with products or services or both but what works for you might not work for someone else... and vice versa.

What are hobbies, skills and interests? Find a need and fill it. Brand yourself. Be the "go to" guy (or gal) in whatever industry you choose. Talk to customers. Network with other business owners. Know your competition. Take risks and learn from the mistakes. Get legal. Pay and collect taxes and write off expenses. There can be big money in small business. Write articles to build your credibility. Get a website offering advice. Blog. Think affiliate income and advertising. Don't give up.

There are thousands of things you can do from home... take in laundry, babysit, write a book or newsletter, data entry, sell products, phone sales, crafts, real estate, import/export, create custom CD labels and jackets, book musicians with gigs, sell gumballs and gumball machines (or whatever) to collectors, sell books or music or movies, create a gourmet coffee (or tea) shop online, host a neighborhood yard sale, mail order, publish a unique calendar for 2009, teach, run remote computer backups for businesses, create video photo albums, set up a tax service, write wills for people, plan and organize home parties, website design, recycling service or sell green products, or ???.
