Has anyone put a patent pending on an idea and sold it to a company?

I have some ideas that I read I can make pantent pending for only $80 and it lasts for 12 months. Which then gives time to go around and sell the idea to manufactuers I guess. Has anyone succesfully done this, and how do you sell the idea to companies?

It sounds like you are referring to a Provisional Patent Application. I don't think that sort of application fairly justifies the Patent Pending label. if you don't file a subsequent design or utility application, the provisional will never become a patent. So, with just a provisional on file, nothing is pending.

if your idea is any good, pay the bucks and get it patented. a patent-pending is a poor man's way of trying to show the world that he has a great idea....that frankly may already be someone else's 'patented idea'.
