What do you need to start a commercial cleaning business in san antonio?

I want to start a commercial cleaning business but I don't know if you need a license to start it and what kind of insurance do you need? how much should i charge for the service? i would like to cater to clean small offices.

I worked with my mom in a cleaning business for most of my high school years, and she actually did fairly well at it. She paid me $10/hour back in 1999! Back then, haha, I had a lot more money than my friends. Anyhoo, you need an L.L.C (limited liability company) and my mother didn't have insurance as far as I know. You do need to keep all the reciepts from everything you buy to start your business. You need to find the right chemicals you want to use, you need an ad in the yellow pages, and you should have a letter head. You should bill out by square feet or by hour. It's been several years since I've been in that business, so I don't know what the going rate is these days. My moms used to charge about $20/hour for cleaning up after college kids. She got it. She had a great reputation for attention to detail and getting jobs done quickly. Billing can be very short and too the point. Businesses seem to like a simple layout.
Here's a list of my favorite chemicals from back in the day:
1. Orange glow for office surfaces. People seem to love the smell!
2. Goof off should be available at your local walmart. That stuff will remove just about anything! (gum, stains, sneaker marks on linoleum, crayon)
3. Almost any window cleaner is good in bulk, and much cheaper.
4. Rubbing alcohol added to pinesol will give the floors a nice sine.
5. Lysol wipes are great for disenfecting bathroom stuff and doorknobs.

It's best to get a franchise from a firm like Cleannet or Jani King. Don't try to reinvent the wheel on your own.
