How do I prevent the failure of my club?

Situation: I have a club and we basically sing for chairty. I finally rallied enough people to join this club. We have been practicing one song for some time. The problem is that we meet once a week and by the next week everybody would forget how to sing what we have learned. And for some strage reason these people are really unenthusiastic and quiet/shy. What can I do? How will they ever sing out? How will they ever remember this song and move on? Basically we learn songs and perform at concerts. Earn some money. And donate the money. But they can't sing or remember how to sing one song. How will I ever pull this off? At this rate we will never be able to earn enough money. And these people want to earn service hours but it's practically impossible. It would be embarassing to make them sing. Especaillly since they have gotten less than one song in their head.

Solutions: ???? You tell me. HELP ME PLEASE!

What a great idea!
First of all, I congratulate you for working on this.

Try setting it to two days a week... say, Mondays and Thursdays, or two other time about half-a-week away from eachother.

Second, try adding a two or more songs. The more songs there are, the more they will be interested. I mean, really, who likes singing the same song all the time?

If possible, make CDs of them singing the song(s) so they can listen for themselves and decide what should be changed.

If you don't already have a name for your group, get everyone together and decide on something classy. It's just a mental thing, but it really pulls everyone together and keeps them there.

Remember: this is a group effort. Try to do fun get-togethers just for the sake or socialization. The closer everyone is, the more fun practice will be. Make sure everyone feels like they belong there.

You seem pretty outgoing. Be confident about this and it will rub off on everyone around you.

Ask them what songs they would like to sing. If they have a favorite song they might feel a little more enthusiatic about singing it.

Put an add out for people who can sing, like in craigslist or something and make sure you mention your situation. The people who you have as singers now can sing backup, which doesn't require them to sing all that good. Then all you really need is good PR. Send out flyers in the community. Get a gimmick like give out prizes or have a talent contest to encourage people to see your show.

Try http://www.meetup.com to get members to sign up and get updates/reminders. Have songs as handouts so they can practice at home.
I would also suggest having some group activity to help build bonds between members as friends, and to 'break the ice' for the shy members. See lists below for ideas
