If I have a business in Canada, and an owner in the US, can they sue me.? |
I have a small travel business in Canada. I sold 5% of the business to a person who lives in nevada. They did not complete the purchase but now want to sue me for breach of promise. The lawsuit indicates that we were operating a business in the state of nevada, but we were not and did not make any sales in the state of nevada. Can they sue us. Americans can sue for anything. So if they present a story that basically says you refused to follow through on the deal and they gave you money, then yes they can and probably will sue. Reread the deal you were making and see what it says and did they do anyhting like register the business in nevada. Otherwise prepare to defend yourself. |
