Adult Parties?

Hi!

I was considering being a consultant for Passion Parties or Pure Romance... and I was wanting to get some feedback from other consultants or people that have been to the parties.... for the consultants... do you like what you do... was it hard getting started.... anything advice you may have...

for the people that have been to the parties... what did you like... what did you not like... were you satisfied with the products... anything else about the parties....

Thanks so much!!!

????????????

I have been a Pure Romance consultant for nine months. I love what I do. I started because I needed a diversion from my serious day job, and quickly found that I enjoyed hanging out with women discussing things our mothers never taught us about sex and romance and helping them with their relationships more than lobbying on tax policy! It can take some time to build your customer base. For me, it took four months to get to a point where I was doing parties at the level I wanted to (2-4 a week). Some women are able to start more quickly - others it takes more time. Your "sponsor" will have some good advice for the best way to get started - or feel free to email me and I can give you some more detailed tips!

I love being in new groups of women every night and the friendships I've made with other consultants locally (and across the country). I love having my own business, and I get a kick out of being the "sex lady"! I could tell tons of funny stories about things that have happend at, on the way, or between parties.

My best advice is to treat this like a true business. You will need to actively work it - it won't just happen for you. That said, you will have tons of support. When I started I had never been to a party before OR even met a consultant! I had no idea what I was getting into. However because of the wonderful training from Pure Romance and support offered by other consultants, I've been doing well.

Recruiting is rewarded, but it is not required - and you certainly don't have to recruit to make money. I had never done anything like this before and wanted to know I could be succesful before inviting other women to join the company. I currently do not have any active consultants in my downline, and am still making money. Of course the company rewards recruiting. Why? Because it needs to grow. It makes much more sense to foster a community of support where consultants are helping each other, than a community of competition.

Sponsors are responsible for training the women who sign up with them and providing support - it's a good thing! That wonderful support I've received from others after joining would NOT have happened in an environment where everyone was out for herself! Shop around for a good sponsor who will be available to answer the many questions you'll have and provide support to you when you join!

I average between $100-150 per party in true profit AFTER I pay for hostess gifts, brochures, door prizes, etc. I do think that profit claims can be overstated. Whoever you speak with about this, make sure you understand how "profit" is defined if that's important to you.

I encourage you to look at what other companies have to offer. For me it was a no-brainer - but different women have different priorities, so definitely shop around. Though I looked at other companies briefly, I did not seriously consider any of them. I was drawn to Pure Romance because of the way it presents itself and its products. Pure Romance's affiliation with academic institutions such as the Kinsey Institute, and programs for women who have undergone cancer diagnosis and treatment were also personally very important to me. It's a company that gives back a tremendous amount to support women's sexual health issues, and I'm very proud to be affiliated with it.

If you have a lot of initiative and are a little gutsy - this might be a great thing for you! It's not for everyone, but can be very rewarding if you're willing to work for it. Feel free to visit me on myspace at www.myspace.com/prbyjannamarie or email me at jannamarie@pureromance.com if you have other questions or want to chat!

Sorry can't help.

Someone at work runs those Passion Parties, along with several other little pyramid schemes like that. Because that's really what they are... the company unloads all their crap onto you and you do all the hard work trying to sell it, with not a lot of profit. If she's doing several of those businesses and still has to work a minimum wage job maybe they aren't working that well, ya think???

If you want to get into that kind of thing, I recommend you just start your own business. Why let another company push you around? If you want to sell candles, make your own candles. If you want to open a sex shop, open up your own damn sex shop. You don't need quasi-franchises to be successful.

Better yet, start your own one of those mail-order companies with a new product that has never been done yet.
