How much should I pay a Small Business Accountant for help with my coffee stand?

It's a very small business that I've just bought with only about 5 employees. I need someone to do payroll, taxes and general bookkeeping.

Is this a huge task? What exactly will they be doing? How much should they be paid and how much do you think they will be working?

You know the tasks you need help with, so that's half your problem solved. As for who to hire, my suggestion will be to hire a full charge bookkeeping service.

People confuse what an accountant does, and it's not the day to day tasks of keeping track of the money and expenses - accountants hire full charge bookkeepers to do this because it's very detailed, tedious most times, work.

A service may run you about $300 a month, based primarily on your receipts, size and frequency of your payroll, etc. Hiring a bookkeeping service will take your business from startup (which you are) through your financial statements and taxes. There are many businesses that are very profitable and do not have a formal in-house accountant because they save more money by having a service do these tasks for them.

Your accountant will take all your financial statements and guide you through worker's comp, payroll deposits, tax advantages you can take and if you choose, do the final tax return to send to the tax authorities.

For a business your size, I would not expect to pay more than $500 a month.

All depends on how serious you are about the business. Maybe you could ask a friend and get a discount.?

idk wat ur tlkin bout but w/e it is u can promise that person a free coffee everyday for the rest of their lives!!!= ]]

Will you be doing any coffee selling online? Good luck with this.

Start off at part time, 20 hours per week, at $15 per hour.

There may be a day where he/she may need to work longer for payroll, end of the month and tax preparation (are you filing your taxes quarterlyor annually?).

You already have the duties listed
payroll
taxes
general bookkeeping

Place an ad and interview prospective employee.
Check out www.craigslist.com in your town and under jobs wanted, there may be postings listed of people looking for part-time bookkeeping jobs.

Make sure that you ask for references and call on their references.
Good luck to you in your new business venture
