Do I need a lawyer to make a LLC company? |
Do I need a lawyer in order to change my current sole proprietyship company to a LLC one? No employee under me, just me doing some consulting service. Can I just change the company name to LLC by just going through the state? What are some tax benefits for doing this? Thanks in advance! Go to your states web site and then to the Secretary of State section. There you will find a down-loadable one page form. Fill it out and mail it in, together with the filing fee, and in about a week, you'll be an LLC. I've never done it myself, but you certainly don't need a lawyer. Go to your state's website. There should be no tax change in income tax expense; the s-corp would be reported on a seperate return, but still reported through your personal return. Your state could have a minimum corporate tax, but it shouldn't be much if anything. just go to the states web and download the forms You will need a legal advice if you need to draft a legal operating agreement between members. |
